If you live in Pennsylvania, you could be getting free money in the mail without even asking for it.
Thanks to a new Pennsylvania Treasury program called Money Match, thousands of residents are receiving checks worth up to $500 for unclaimed property they didn’t even know they had.
What’s This Money From?
The Pennsylvania Treasury is holding $5 billion in unclaimed property belonging to Pennsylvanians.
This money comes from:
-
Uncashed paychecks
-
Old bank accounts
-
Insurance payouts
-
Utility deposits
-
Refunds and rebates
Over 1 in 10 Pennsylvanians has unclaimed property, and the Money Match program is designed to get it back into your hands automatically.

How Does the Pennsylvania Money Match Program Work?
Instead of requiring you to file paperwork, the Treasury now:
-
Uses state records to match residents with unclaimed money (up to $500 per check)
-
Sends out a letter letting you know a check is on the way
-
Mails the check about 30-40 days later
