Illinois residents could be getting a check in the mail this summer, without even applying.
Thanks to the Enhanced Money Match program, the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office is sending out cash payments automatically to thousands who have unclaimed funds.
What Is the Enhanced Money Match Program?
The program is designed to return unclaimed money directly to residents.
Using matching technology, the Treasurer’s Office cross-checks data to find people owed money and mails out checks without requiring paperwork.
Since the program started in 2018, Illinois has returned over $130 million to residents who often didn’t even realize they had money waiting.
How Much Could You Receive?
This summer, the state plans to send out $45 million to nearly 600,000 Illinois residents.
-
Most checks will be around $50 or less
-
Some residents could receive larger checks if they have multiple unclaimed funds
How Does It Work?

The Treasurer’s Office identifies unclaimed funds tied to your name and address.
